Mergers and Acquisitions
Is your customer planning on merging with, or purchasing, one of their competitors? During the discovery and disclosure phase, educating your customer on the effect of the merger on their experience modifier factor (and how that will impact their premium) will make them a better buyer.
What if your customer has a mod of 0.85, and they purchase a competitor with a mod of 1.35? It is possible their new mod will be 1.10 once the data is combined. While this is no fault of yours as their agent, or the insurance company, or NCCI, the fact remains that your customer will be angry. If the customer is aware of this mod increase ahead of time, they can adjust their purchase price (or negotiate some sort of cost recapture for the increase in workers’ compensation premium due to this merger).
